Markus Bak

Markus Bak is a Hamburg‑based guitarist, composer, and educator, known for his soulful blend of blues, swing, and jazz. With a career spanning over two decades, he has performed with numerous jazz and blues bands, contributed music to theatre, TV, and film, and released his own acclaimed albums: Call My Name (2002), Because (2014), and MBQ (Markus Bak Quartett, 2014).

Markus is a key member of the swing band Brauns Chocolate and the internationally successful swing/jump‑blues formation Bun‑Jon And The Big Jive, performing at festivals and concerts around the world. His playing draws inspiration from legends like Charlie Christian, Barney Kessel, T‑Bone Walker, and B.B. King, creating a sound that is both authentic and contemporary.

Passionate about sharing his knowledge, Markus runs a popular YouTube channel where he breaks down solos, teaches rhythm techniques, and offers guidance for guitarists at all levels. Beyond online education, he provides private lessons, workshops, and curated backing tracks for students worldwide.

For Markus, guitar is more than an instrument—it’s a lifelong journey of expression, connection, and discovery.
